Recruitment Information for Dog Walkers

All work offered by Bramcote Dog Walkers is on a self employed basis. Payment is made on a commission basis for actual work undertaken. Being self employed means that you are responsible for reporting your income to HM Revenue and Customs, filling out a tax return and paying your own tax and National Insurance. Tax returns are quite simple and can be completed online without the need for an accountant. You should bear in mind that there would be no paid holidays or sick pay due to the work being on a self employed basis. Hours worked will vary depending on the requirements of clients, including those work to rotas and book different days each week.

Most of the dog walks are required between 10am and 2.30pm. Young puppies may need 2 or 3 visits a day. As a new dog walker, you might start with walking one or two dogs per day, and build up as the client base grows. Some dogs may need a walk from Mondays to Fridays, whereas others may only be 2 or 3 days per week.

Dog walkers must be prepared to walk dogs and clean up after them in all weathers. Dog walkers who wish to walk more than one dog at a time should have a dog guard fitted to their car, so that one dog can be collected and driven to the next owner's house. Dog walkers must be capable of handling and controlling various dog breeds, both on and off the lead. Duties include visiting clients' homes, taking the dog out for a walk, transporting it in a car as required. 1-6 walks/visits per day. Some dogs will be walked off the lead. Hours will vary in accordance with the number of walks booked by clients. Potential to work up to 20 hours per week.

A Basic CRB Disclosure issued within the last 12 months containing details of any criminal records is required before being offered any work.
*Applicants who have, or obtain, a Police Data Protection Subject Access certificate issued within the last 12 months do not need to apply for a CRB. Please note that it takes at least 2 weeks to obtain a CRB. Fees are payable by the applicant.
